The Overlook
From this scenic overlook, you can see the Eastern edge of the Edward's Plateau. The Eastern part of the plateau is known the Hill Country and has undergone more erosion in comparison to the Western portion of the Edward's Plateau. Fire played a large role in shaping the vegetation of this area. Before human settlement in the 1800s, fires would occur in the Edward's Plateau around every 4-7 years.
The rivers in this region flow South towards the Gulf of Mexico and are fed by the Edward's Aquifer. Average rainfalls vary from 23 inches to 35 inches a year. Tourists are drawn to this area because of its clear streams and views such as the one pictured above.
